Summary
Nice dimensional shingle from family owned company: We really appreciate TAMKO for not going the route of all the other major manufactures that “magically” changed their 30 Year shingles to Lifetime in 2011. TAMKO’s warranty seems more legit, more real as they give you a 15 Year or 20 Years of LABOR AND MATERIAL non prorated coverage up front. They also have some unique color blends that make the shingles seem a little different in the standard lineup as opposed to having to go for a designer type shingle. Of course available starter shingles and ventilation accessories are recommended as well. They do have a cool roof color, basically white.
Tamko Heritage Pricing Information:
A true value as an entry level dimensional shingle to standard version Heritage can be found at $70 a square while the premium between $85-125 per 100 square feet.

Once again, another year and Tamko delivers a great product, we choose Tamko shingles first above any others.
Tamko makes a better shingle than any other brand! We have been using them for 40+ years.
Products – 5 stars – unique and attractive color characteristics…..good quality products, my guys much prefer installing Tamko shingles
what we use in our company. quality product at a good price. if it wasnt good we wouldn’t use it. best warranty in the game!
I’ve always been able to have confidence in the products. I’ve put on Tamko for 15 years and have yet to have a problem.
I have always been pleased with the quality and service of the TAMKO product and Representatives, both locally and regionally. My customers have been pleased with the TAMKO product on their homes and businesses.
Love the product since 92 and still do!!!!!
Great product,we installed on 27 homes last year and had zero callbacks
Materials are of the highest quality.
We use them every house we build.
Product remains consistent year after year. I like the 15 year full start for both residential and multi family.
Previous owner of house had new roof with Tamko shingles put on in 2011. It is now 2018. After 7 years shingles are curling. I am current owner and called to make claim. They said since I am not the original owner they will not honor their 25 year shingle warranty. This shingle literally has 18 more years in its life cycle and they will not honor their warranty. Regardless of owners they should stand behind their product. DO NOT consider buying this shingle. Its poor quality and they may not be willing to help you if their is an issue.
I’m happy with the products and the personnel.
30 years my a$$. they fell apart after 12.
Poor quality product. Warranty stinks!
I’ve been putting Tamko shingles on 100s of roofs for 14 years and have never had a problem with them.
The Tamko products we have used this past year have preformed well.
Great company, great products and great customer service! It’s easy for our company to stand behind TAMKO because we know that TAMKO stands behind our company values and those of our independent lumber dealer customers.
Customers seem to be happy with the product. Don’t get any complaints.
Don’t even bother calling them to stand behind their product. Even if it says they have a 30 year warranty they will make you jump through hoops and have every excuse in the book not to cover their product. The people in the customer service center are very rude and will swear they are the supervisor and no one is above them. Poor product with awful customer service.
TAMKO has better overall product quality and warranty than other leading manufacturers

I work for a local roofing company in Broken Arrow. We love using Tamko Roofing products. They have beautiful shingles and excellent customer service.
I built a new house 11 years ago. The builder installed Tamko Heritage 30. Recently, we had a significant hail damage in the neighborhood. The shingles on my house are so thick and strong, I barely have any hail damage. It was just impact damage that you can barely see. Every house in the neighborhood is getting a new roof and I am having trouble getting my insurance company to pay for mine.
Love all the Tamko products, high quality very fair price.
We live in TAMKO country, so when we needed a new roof after a hail storm six years ago, that’s what the contractor offered. We’ve been really happy with the roof. It looks good and it does it’s job, so we haven’t had any complaints. I will say that our roof color is much better than some of our neighbors, so much so, that we had a neighbor decide to reroof with the same gray blend TAMKO shingles that we got several years later because she thought our roof was so pretty.
I am really concerned. There seems to be 98% with failure reports and dissatisfied customers. I realize that satisfied customers don’t make as much effort to post but those who do seem to have real problems. The Tamko shingles have already been delivered and will be installed in a few days. I have to wonder if I should change them out for OC Duration or Certaineed Landmarks, or what? Are Tamko shingles really this bad?
There not so good…
Lets face it. Most asphalt shingles are pretty much the same road materials of asphalt and gravel with a little fiberglass thrown in for texture. LOL. What really make the difference in manufacturers is the people you deal with! Stephan McNally, Bill Riley, etc. these people are the top in their field. Not only knowledgeable, but friendly, attentive, and just good business people. If they worked at any other manufacturer of a like quality product, they would rise that brand to the top. Tamko is so blessed to have people like this in place from top to bottom. I have never met a Tamko employee, no matter what their job that wasn’t friendly, and glad to be doing what they do!
Go team Tamko!
I am a contractor. We had a customer insist on using Tamko’s woodgate because it was the cheapest. She was all about the bottom dollar. She got what she paid for. The roof crew hated installing the shingles. Many of the shingles broke during a hand nail application, This is by far the worst and lowest quality shingle we’ve ever worked with. I feel bad for homeowners duped into using this
I am a Builder in Central Nebraska that has been in the industry for 40 plus years. I have used Tamko as my go to shingle for most of those years. I have had one callback that was a warranty issue. Tamko settled that claim to everyone’s satisfaction. As long as you have correct ventilation, roof deck construction , and proper installation procedures Tamko performs very good. Any problems I have had are shingles not sealing because of cold weather install insisted upon by clients. Dobs of tar to facilitate cold weather seal down is not a good option for me or my clients. I will not shingle when the temperature is to cold anymore. I have shingled many dozens of roofs with Tamko and that is what I put on my own house. A good shingle for the price.
Heritage Shingles have defects. If you are a California resident and are interested in partici[ating in a complaint please email djc@djcinvestigativegroup.com.

Do you have complaint information for states other than California?
They are not as good as gag timberline they are stuck together and make a hole in them I don’t like them timberline is the best I won’t use anything else and I told alot.
I use install about 5-10 roofs per week in north Texas and 75% of them are tamko because of the service, warranty and quality. Most warranty issues on all roofs happen in the first few years if not noticeable when installed. All roofing manufacturing companies have issues and tamko has the least issues and the best reps. Period
And most people only go online to make negative comments because they wanted something for nothing and don’t tell the whole story. Just like homeowners do to my business when they don’t want to pay then they threaten to bash me on FB or BBB or these troll sites. Ask any roofer and they’ll tell you the same. People usually get online to focus on the negetive when I do good work with good products and people just get mad when they have to pay for their roof or they were to cheap to install what was needed to keep the roof intact for the warranty then when it fails their mad because they cut corners and want to blame everyone else for their decision.
Purchased new home January 2011. In mid 2016 roof began leaking. Looking at the roof in the sunlight will blind you as the fiberglass showing everywhere reflects the light. Contacted Tamko and the will prorate their shingles (to their benefit) but not cover any labor costs. The full start period where they pay labor changed less than 30 days after I moved in from the 5 years I have to 15 years. So Tamko isn’t paying for any labor, not paying for any ridge vent that has to be removed, not paying for the damaged decking, and are not paying for the interior damage from the leak. I paid over $12000 for the roof in 2011 and with the little help they are offering it’ll cost me that much again with the shingles they didn’t provide, removal, and installation just 5 years later. Sinfull!
Tamko Heritage degranulated after12 years, many of the shingles are bare at the edges now after 19 years and we are unfortunately faced with doing a new roof , when we thought this would last at least the warranteed 25 years. STAY AWAY
My tamko heritage shingles lasted 10 years and were leaking everywhere. Insurance said it was the shingles, not the installation and had no evidence of storm or hail damage. Cost me a new roof in 10 years on a 30 year roof.
30 yearTamko Heritage shingles were leaking everywhere in less than 10 years. The whole neighborhood is having the same problem. Tamko is not standing behind their warrantee in most cases. All the roofer said they would not recommend Tamko shingles. Don’t use Tamko shingles.
Heritage brand severely de granulated. Filed a claim with TAMKO. Received a ridiculous packet that, among others things, requires me to hire a roofer. The expectation is that the consumer will incur additional charges and jump through hoops before TAMKO will even consider standing behind their product. The entire process is geared to discourage consumers from making claims. I’m told by a local roofer TAMKO is the lightest, thus poorest quality, shingle. Roofers push it on consumers because of the margin. BUYER BEWARE!!
please explain “de granulated”. A rather high percentage of granules will come off in the first few months because they “over granulate” the shingles when made. Then over time the granules will come off as the shingle ages, but usually over a long period of time. This is the normal aging of the shingle. So what did you have happen that you considered “de granulating” to the point you filed a claim? How old was the roof?
Thanks
Kevin
Looking To these shingles for my new roof..I have not seen favorable reviews. Just wondering if these issues with faulty shingles were resolved before I invest my money?

It’s difficult to find knowledgeable people on this topic, however, you seem like you know what you’re talking about!
Thanks
The shingles failed. It was determined that the product was bad. The company warranty staff refused to assist. We had the retailer working with us to negotiate with Tamko, but Tamko still refused to help. Their response was “Call our lawyer.” AVOID THIS COMPANY.
The shingles that were put on my house were defective. Granules were coming off all over the place and some of the shingles were almost bare when I noticed them earlier this year. All Tamko has offered is to replace 30 of the 41 squares that it will take to re-roof my house but nothing for the labor or stripping off the old roof or replacement of the underlayment. For a roof that was supposedly going to last approximately 30 years I feel this is an inferior product and will never have Tamko shingles on my house again.
I have a similar situation. Did you take the new TAMKO shingles for the replacement or you took the ridiculously low offer of $40/square and purchase another brand?
After 13 years, we are getting a new roof. We have lost shingles multiple times during storms over the years. We have patched and repatched. We will not be using TAMKO again.
Not sure if it was my installer or these shingles, but we are losing some shingles off the roof after 4 years now. They look alright and were good but we expected more out of these “premium” level roof.
Seems OK they were pretty cheap it’s 2012 now and I am seeing some wear especially at the eaves edge. We did have a few blow off in a wind storm but thankfully the roofer left a few extra for us. Honestly I’ll be happy if we get 15 years out of these budget line shingles
