The “Zone” technology explained
Malarkey Legacy Shingles Pricing
This is the top of the line shingle in the dimensional style and you will pay for it, however for the technology and longevity it is really a value at $110-125 a square.
Manufacturer | Shingle Brand | Features | Our Rating 5 Nails Max |
Malarkey | Legacy | Adding SBS in a traditional design really ups the bar for a dimensional shingle. 20 Year Scotchgard, Class 4 impact rating etc, this shingle is a beast. |
Shingles are 6 years old. Every wind I’m picking up ripped off shingles off my lawn. Marlarkey well not do anything about there faulty product. Lied to me and said there’s nothing wrong with them. There warranty is horrible and they don’t care about there customers
My Highlander shingles were a year old. Blew off at least once a year. The tar strip on the bottom was not adhering to the roof. They are now 6 years old. Have been trying to get them to fix the problem Malarkey well do nothing about it. Theysaid the shingles are to speck. They stated everything is good but the real problem with these shingles. There warranty is crap. They’ll do everything to not have to warranty claim. I well not ever use Malarkey products and I well tell anyone who well listen not to use there infuriator shingles. They do not stand behind behind there products.
My roof was installed in 2003 with a 50 year warrantee. The shingles are stripped bare of granules and no one from Malarkey will look at the roof and they have denied my warrantee claim. Beware
I have had roof problems since my house was built. I live on a mountain top where winds are excessive all day. I used these shingles because they are made of a soft rubber material and are thick yet flexible and wind resistant. The shingles have been on for a few years now and I have not lost a single shingle yet. First brand to actually stay on this roof. As long as it’s hot when you put them on, they will lay flat, stick and never come off. These are the class 4 sbs malarkey with scotch guard.
Don’t waste your money, I had thier shingles installed 1 year age and the roof already needs replacement. I have had multiple professionals come inspect and they all say it needs to be replaced. The contractor even stopped the install so malarkey rep could come inspect thier product and after inspection they wrote me a special guarantee letter that don’t mean squat. They offered me 3k to go away, but to replace my 1 year old roof it will cost 12k – 14k
I just had this shingle installed and there is fish mouthing everywhere. Not sure if it was installed wrong or this shingle does not lay flat.
give it till next summer is over. they will lay down.
Wondering what the difference is between these
Malarkey Legacy
And the
Malarkey Highlander CS and Northwest Cl
I am not a builder, I’m a homeowner. I have this shingle, its the best shingle and held up to golfball size hail, but there’s 1 problem. Because the roof almost never needs to be replaced, but gutters would, windows, garage door, etc… Because contractors these days are covering hail deductibles, whats the point of having this shingle? When the a hailstorm hits, my roof never needs to be replaced, but all my other dwelling items do, which make for a much smaller job for the contractor, which makes the contractor not cover the deductible and instead it comes out of my pocket. So out of my pocket to upgrade to this shingle, then out of my pocket every hailstorm after that.
The contractor should not pay the deductible. Why take the contractors hard earned money? Have you ever installed these products or ran a company that has? It’s one of the hardest business’s to be in especially when the homeowners don’t want to pay their “own” deductible. I find your comment very disturbing.
Having the contractor pay your deductible is not only illegal, but almost guarantees poor quality work, short cuts and with little or no warranties. Insurance companies have cut back on what they pay to have repairs done professionally so there is no room to pay a deductible without your contractor cutting corners somewhere in the process. Can cost you a lot down the road.
Just buy these if you can get them in your area. Yes you will pay a little more but for the peace of mind your roof won;’t leak. They also look better than a normal dimensional, I dont know if it is the granules or they are a little thicker, slightly better cut or what.
I’d give them a five but just haven’t been installing them long enough. But from experience everything about them seems perfect. If you can see it should also be about impossible to high nail these which is a commen problem we fix here.
These are hands down the best dimensional shingles you can get your hands on, lay flat great technology with rubbery stuff in middle, gums up knife but heavy and waterproof. You won’t be disappointed if you get these suckers.
