Great blog! Thanks for the information!
While Roofing you might never guess, but cleaning the gutters is the important as it helps us roof. its a pain, to have to clean the gutters before we roof and have to add extra charge!
Thank you for the sound advice given in your 11/22/16 reply above. I’ve never heard about a downspout cover; what is it?
Please advise on downspouts? Our yard is clay soil so doesn’t soak in water and floods. We are considering draining the water from the downspouts into a pipe that we will need to dig under the soil. Then punch a hole in our cement wall that leads the water to a drainage cannel behind our house.
We were also planning of having the other downspouts on the cement driveway.
We also had different answers about placing gutters on our 2nd level loft so the rain won’t damage our roof below.
What are your recommendations?
Great idea on burying the downspout and properly redirecting the water. If you are doing this please make sure you are using downspout covers if not a full gutter protection system. Unclogging the downspout underground is very difficult. Your loft roof, it’s a good idea to get a section of gutter up there and a downspout that goes directly into the lower gutter. Roofs may last for a long time without it but your shingles certainly take more wear and tear in the same spot.
Im looking for a rating on Designer Slateline shingles. Can you assist?
