Pros
- Sharp looking slate imitation shingle
- Much easier to install than real slate roofing
- GAF warranty and backing from industry leader
Cons
- Usually special order
- This is still a pretty high price, seemingly too high for still being asphalt
- While decent range of colors - some homeowners may not find a suitable one for them
Summary
GAF did pretty darn good in making an asphalt shingle look like some traditional slate roofs. With some decent color variation throughout some of the granule blends from afar you may believe this to be a natural product. However the tabs are repetitive and you can tell it's not real. On the plus side it's no where near as heavy or expensive as a traditional slate roof. Will install relatively quick, isn't to hard to cut, and nationwide availability although usually a special order.
