Owens Corning Oakridge Shingle Review and Cost
Budget Friendly Dimensional Shingle: Being the least expensive dimensional styled shingle offered by Owens corning it is a wonderful value. Many builders of track homes use this shingle for it’s broad appeal and relatively inexpensive price. You immediately get a big jump in wind warranty protection of up to 130mph. You’ll also gain a ten year algae resistance due to a coating on the shingle granules. As with every major roof manufacturer the warranty on this shingle has been increased from the previous 30 Year Limited to a Lifetime Limited warranty. To our knowledge nothing has changed about the shingle itself. Please keep in mind proper ventilation standard are essential to getting the full life out of this roofing application.

Oakridge Shingle Warranty
Lifetime like just about all shingles now. Does not include workmanship(which most failures are blamed on) unless installed by a Platinum Contractor from Owens Corning.
I would not recommend Owens Corning shingles to anyone I had them installed on my home and have very high amount of granule loss and when I contacted Owens Corning the company was this very rude to me and told me the warranty was 10 years on labor and then they told me it was five
My home was built 9 years ago and these were supposed to be a 30 year shingle which I wanted to get me through my golden years. After 4 years they started leaking and have not stopped! I have had all my vents recaulked every year so it is not my vents. I put every dime I had into buying my home and property and cannot afford to replace this roof. If I can get a loan, I will go with a steel roof and NEVER use shingles again.

I thought that I was buying a premium product 10 yrs or so ago. Something went terribly wrong with these shingles. Then combine that with poor installation and i’m now faced with a huge expense to replace 40+ squares of roofing and countless sheets of sheeting. My advise would be to really carefull selecting your next roofer and the material used.

Things like proper ventilation, insulation and nailing are essential as well as underlayments etc… To all homeowners hiring a contractor for your roof, don’t be tempted buy a cheap price – paying for two roofs is more expensive than paying for one expensive but quality one.

I think the “algae warranty” is a jioke, these are almost green after 5 years. It’s for blue-green algae or something not moss I have growing on roof in little clumps. Who knows, not leaking just not happy,
They aer OK I guess just a little flater looking that are old shingles but they were falling apart
These are a great designed shingle a huge improvement over our old Three tab shingles. Not sure anything really last “lifetime” but 30 years would get us through to the grave! They were a little pricier but not too bad and we love buying American.
We put these on my business and they look very good everyone seems to like them. For a lifetime warranty they seemed very reasonably priced.
